WebAs it was said numerous times and in many threads, the (freeshard) server lifecycle is rather predictable, the most recent daoc examples would be Uthgard -> Genesis -> Uthgard 2 -> Phoenix. All with wildly different settings, change policies or approaches to moderation. WebThe leveling on Celestius is simply less boring than Phoenix was. Celestius has shown many players, including myself, that there's a lot more to DAOC than just a strict 1.65 ruleset. The people at Atlas don't understand DAOC on the same level as the Celestius devs. They are more concerned with nostalgia than fun.

WebUthgard has been pulling in less than 100 concurrent players for the past two years. Alteri is very niche (arena PvP). Phoenix is the only server left that pulls in 1k+ concurrent players except for the past two months. The way I see it is that each new freeshard server acts as another "season" or "ladder" in DAoC. WebCelestius hands down. Uthgard is still kicking if you want classic, but the pop is low and the xp times are brutal. Atlas is trying to get there , but it is still a ways away from being polished. Phoenix has said they might come back in 6 months, my guess is they are going to wait to see what happens with the other freeshards first.
