Webskills are assessed on the Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing-Second Edition (CTOPP-2),3 which I strongly recommend. The CTOPP-2 should be used alongside the PAST. I have found the PAST and the Elision subtest, which is the CTOPP-2’s phonological awareness test, tend to yield similar results. WebPhonological Awareness Screening Test (PAST) is here presented as a valid and reliable assessment of phonological awareness that takes 5-8 minutes to administer. The data presented demonstrates that the PAST tends to correlate more strongly with word-level reading than currently available phonological awareness tests.
